Las Vegas Performance in February

We had a wonderful time sharing Japanese music with the Las Vegas audience at the Dream Asia Food Festival! One of the pieces that we played was My Neighbor Totoro (となりのトトロ) from Studio Ghibli. There were so many people who recognized the piece, and we had a great time there!

We performed on a huge stage (probably the largest we ever performed!) facing an entire city block and beyond. There was a stage crew setting up the stage for us very professionally. We appreciated how we were treated on and off stage by the event organizer.

Lastly, we would like to thank our friends who helped us with all the logistics around the stage!

Upcoming Performance

We will be performing in Gardena this month. This is a dinner event organized by the city for seniors. We are very excited to share the music with the LA community!

Our Artistic Director Kozue performed the koto at the world premiere of the new opera The Camp at Aratani Theater in Little Tokyo.

A new opera about an American family wrongfully imprisoned in 1942 and the power of collective resistance to injustice.

A powerful story with the libretto by Lionelle Hamanaka was played with the moving music by Daniel Kessner. The music is composed for an orchestra and koto and shakuhachi, a very rare instrumentation yet beautifully written. Many audiences and also the composer Daniel said that Kozue's fine performance was a great addition to the opera. Kozue is very honored to be part of this project. We hope that this opera will be played many more times so more people can appreciate this wonderful opera.
